I grew up in a tropical country with our own colorful and vibrant flora that we boast of. But I've always been in awe of the beauty of tulips. Since it won't grow to a rather tropical climate, it is always a joy to see them in a bouquet. So imagine my awe as I see hundreds and thousands of them skillfully landscaped on fields and gardens whenever I visit The Netherlands!

While taking this picture, I was singing in my head - I see trees of green... and tulips too... I see them bloom for me and you. And I think to myself... what a wonderful world...

Keukenhof Gardens

During my first visit to the Netherlands, I took a quick tour of the Keukenhof Gardens, also known as the Garden of Europe. In spring, this park showcases a variety of spring-flowering bulbs, such as tulips, daffodils, muscari, hyacinths, primulas, violets, irises, and anemones.

Activities in Keukenhof Gardens

Aside from strolling around this masterfully landscaped vast garden and taking unlimited flower and selfie shots, there are several activities to choose from.

  • Whisper boat. These electrically-propelled whisper boats will take you up close to Keukenhof's surrounding flower bulb fields through the park's canal network. Enjoy the mystical view of the flower fields accompanied by an audio tour to enrich the experience.

  • Cycling. Ride a bicycle along the colorful surrounding area. There are bikes available for rent. You can only ride them outside the park, not through Keukenhof. Visit this page to book a bike.

  • Guided tour. With a 60-minute guided tour, you'll certainly know what this park is all about and what it offers.

  • Mill. Climb up the viewpoint of the Mill built in 1892. This is my favorite since I enjoyed the view of the park and the surrounding flower fields. I was truly impressed by how color-coded and perfectly arranged they are! And the best part - it's free.

Is Keukenhof Gardens open all year round?

Since the flowers are blooming in spring, Keukenhof Garden is now closed. For 2026, it will open from March 19 to May 10, from 8 AM - 7:30 PM.

How to get to Keukenhof Gardens

We booked combitickets online, which cost 32 Euros for 2026. This included departing and returning bus rides from Schiphol Airport. Booking may only be done online starting November 2025. Please visit this link - www.keukenhof.nl

Tulip Fields of the Netherlands in 2024

My first visit here was in April 2016, and it was a fantastic experience to see the tulips bloom. But I had to come back! I have to ride a bicycle! Fast forward to April 2024 - I was here to visit the tulip fields of the Netherlands! It was forecast to rain during the week of our visit, but luckily, the weather turned out well, and I was able to ride a bicycle!

In the video below, you will see all the stunning flowers that blossomed for me during my 2024 visit to the Netherlands. Enjoy!

Here are some photos taken on my April 2024 trip to Keukenhof and the surrounding flower fields in Lisse, The Netherlands.
